Parish Council News: April 10th 2022

The April Council Meeting is the annual meeting at which Council re-appoints its officers.

Update From Paul Blackwell

Councillors again voted Paul Blackwell as Chair for another year.  Councillor Geri Rowe was elected as Vice-Chair.

West Northamptonshire Councillor, David Smith who is the Cabinet Member for Community Safety & Engagement and Regulatory Services, attended the meeting and reported on the first year of the new Unitary Council and of its priorities over the next year or so.  The Byfield Surgery; Route 200 bus service and the state of the roads in & around the Parish among other things were all on the agenda.

The Parish Council reviewed its standing orders, financial regulations, etc together with its insurance cover, the premium of which had risen considerably because of the claim last year that saw the Memorial Hall severely damaged by water.  It also viewed the developing new website that will be enabled in the coming months. In preparation for this, parishioners will notice the Council’s website, the Village Signpost, has slightly changed its name to make it clear that it is indeed the Parish Council’s website – any search for the Signpost will still land you on the existing site at the present time.

Other matters were considered in connection with the Great Central Woodland, police community officer, highways and tree planting to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Mrs Kay Coles, who has been a Parish Councillor for many years including being Chair & Vice-Chair, resigned from the Council and the Chairman sincerely thanked her on behalf of the Council for all her work and her attention to parishioners.  He wished her well in the future.
