A361 Closure: Cancelled

HS2 Tunnel Segment Delivery Requires Off-Peak Closure

This planned work and the alternative date of 28/08 have been cancelled. We will provide an update when a new date is available.

Since July, HS2 has delivered tunnel segments to the Chipping Warden tunnel site without needing traffic management. However, they will soon be receiving a particularly wide precast tunnel segment. Unfortunately this will require a lane closure for the safety of road users.

Logo for HS2HS2 will close the southbound carriageway closure of the A361 to allow the wide load to safely pass through the narrow sections of highway near Wardington. This will be the same closure area that was used earlier in the year for the first tunnel segment deliveries.

The southbound carriageway of the A361 will be closed 5.00am to 9.00am, on Sunday 21 August. It is likely that the road will open earlier, depending on progress, and may be open before 07:00am.

If HS2 are unable to deliver on that date, they will use a contingency date of Sunday 28 August 2022 to carry out the same closure.

You can see more details of the closure in this fact sheet.
